Microsoft's Playwright MCP lets an agent drive a real browser through the page's accessibility tree rather than screenshots. It runs locally as an npm package or Docker image and is used for testing, debugging and web workflows.

What an agent can do

  • → Navigate, click and fill in forms
  • → Take screenshots and generate PDFs
  • → Read page structure and content
  • → Capture and mock network requests
  • → Record traces and video

The agent acts in the browser with whatever sessions and cookies it holds, so run it in an isolated profile.
